PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
Shelley practices wills, estates and trusts law as well as elder law. She obtained her LLB at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1984. Besides practicing law at the former firms of Melville and Company and G. Davies and Company in Vancouver, Shelley has been in house counsel at CIBC Trust and in the trust department at the Loewen Group Inc. She has also spent a year working for Vancouver Community Legal Assistance Society as the Mental Patient’s Advocate at Riverview Hospital.
Shelley was a regular columnist covering section activities for the B.C. Branch of the Canadian Bar Association in the Advocate and in the Bar Talk magazine for the past 20 years.
Shelley is the current vice-chair of the Wills and Trusts Subsection (Vancouver) of the B.C. Branch of the Canadian Bar Association and a member of the Estate Planning Council of Vancouver. A frequent contributor to the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia (“CLE”), she has been an instructor for Wills Drafting Workshop (2004, and 2007) and a speaker on wills, estates and trusts issues in Advanced Family Law Issues (November, 2003) a course co-chair for the May 2006 course “Planning Considerations for Blended Families”. Shelley is also the author of the chapters on Wills, Estates, Trusts and Adult Guardianship Law in the Annual Review of Law and Practice published by the CLE in 2006, 2007, and 2008.
